A big whine!!!
Question:
I’m home sick with a cold. I spent the weekend in bed with this damn thing. I’m hoping it won’t move into my sinuses–I’m seriously prone to sinusitis, and really don’t want to go on antibiotics AGAIN (since November I’ve been on 3 courses). I really thought that when I quit smoking I would be done with these upper respiratory problems. I guess I should look at it this way: if I were smoking, it would be a lot worse! The weird thing is that I have really been craving while I’ve been sick! I just want to be able to breathe again, and to be able to taste food. I’ve gone through 3 boxes of Kleenex since Saturday, Yes, I’ve been eating chicken soup and taking hot baths/showers! I’m not even enjoying not being at work. Grumble, grumble, grumble. PLUS, I’M SICK OF WINTER AND COLD AND SNOW AND RAIN!!!!!! Did I mention ice? I’m sick of ice on the sidewalks, in the parking lots. I’m sick of the salt used to melt the ice covering my car. I’m sick, and I want my mommy. Paula S. in her flannel jammies with her teddy bear

That has to be so hard. Being stuck at home with no energy and a bad bad cold. Your cravings probably also come from being stuck at home like that. Every time i am alone (which is all the time) in my appartment, if I stay doing nothing, I go nuts (there’s this little demon in my head talking about smoking smoking smoking). Hold on. Your body is cleaning up. Don’t you dare smoke ! Because yes, it would be worse. You could get bronchitis on top of it ! You have to be living in montreal <g> to have all that slushy stuff n rain n snow n salt… well, if that can help you, in Montreal that,s what i’m stuck with and I understand… Go get some orange juice, echinacea, ask a friend to rent some movies for you, and drink your orange juice watching them. And don’T listen to that little devil whispering about cigarettes. You know it’s what Tobacco Execs want… they want your body, your brain, your lungs… Hang in there, don’t quit. I had a bad week-end too =))) One week, four days, 16 hours of pure battling stress with my head 187 (and more) cigarettes not smoked – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I’m home sick with a cold. Ah, sounds a bummer. Don’t we just value our health so much more when we lose it – just like everything else in life. Not much esle you can do, in fact there’s nothing you can do but jsut relinguish control to…TIME. Antibiotics seldom touch these things, as you’ll probably testify ! wishing you health bobf 11m – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->I’m home sick with a cold. Years ago, I quit smoking for three years. During the first year, I was plagued with sinus infections over and over again. I guess my lungs and sinuses were pissed that I had been abusing them all those years and were confused as to how to really work without the cigarettes?
At any rate, I’m quit now for good and haven’t had any problems with that kind of thing (cept a wee cough that is gone now). Here’s hoping you feel better soon!!! Three weeks, five days, 7 hours, 53 minutes and 36 seconds. 394 stinky cigarettes not smoked, saving money that I didn’t even realize I was spending in the amount of $59.24. Life saved: 1 day, 8 hours, 50 minutes. — Donna (Take out the spaminator for email) http://www.onemade.com

Dear Paula, I’ve had acute sinus problems in the past. In fact your story sounds alot like mine. Back in 1989 I fell down some stairs. Two weeks later I came down with the worst sinus infection ever. First one. I was placed on heavy duty antibiotics, Augmentin, for months. I thought I was gonna die. I couldn’t work. I’d have to lie down with a heating pad on my face. I wanted to be dead. I had a friend who had a good chiropractor. I was skeptical but I knew he couldn’t make me feel any worse than I already felt. Within 2 adjustments the sinus pressure and pain was gone. As he adjusted my neck (which is the vertebrae connected to the sinuses) I could feel the blood leaving my sinuses. All I am saying is this doctor was fabulous and I have been going to chiropractors ever since. And I’ve hardly been sick. You might want to consider an adjustment. Even if you haven’t injured yourself, stress alone can pull your vertebrae out of alignment. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Every state has a State Chiropractic Association. If you want, e-mail me, tell me which city you live in and I’ll contact my chiropractor back in Kansas City and get some referrals for you.
