Dr. Work – neuro question

Question:

You definitely need to be seen by your doc…this ain’t normal.  I am not sure that you need to be seen by a neurosurgeon, but definitely by your primary care. — Bill Work

John, I’m not Dr. Work, or for that matter even a doctor, but I will say what I think you probabaly already know. You’re very concerned about these symptoms, you think it may have something to do with a nerve or nerves in your neck, and you’re thinking that you should have it checked out. I agree that you should have the symptoms checked out since it has not let up. May just be pinching a nerve or nerves that you feel when the neck moves. The only way to know is to have an examination which I’m sure you already know. In my opinion, the most appropriate physician to see would be a Neurologist who may want to do x-rays or a scan of the neck. If it turns outs to be pinched nerves, you may want ask the Neurologist if Chiropractic adjustments would be okay for you to have. I’m not saying that you should go for weeks and weeks of treatments, but a week or two may be of benefit along with any other treatment the Neurologist may recommend. Chris

Dr. Work, For the last couple of weeks, I have been having instant numbness starting in my face and tounge and shooting down my arms and into my hands. This happens when I move my head (neck). I have had these symptoms in the past but they always went away in a day or 2. This time I have had this for 2 weeks. Is there something wrong with me that I should see a neurosurgeon or be concerned with? It is very irritating and I’m afraid that if I am carrying something (which I’m not supposed to do) I might drop it. I had a neurofibroma on the L-5 nerve root and it crushed the root. I also had a spinal cord stimulator trial done and it left a "soft" spot where the electrode was injected in to my spinal cord. Any input you or anyone might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John D.
