Chiropractic or osteopathic treatment

Question:

>Hi all, >I have a slipped disc in my lower back and have been diagnosed with >muscular instability around the hips.

Slipped disk?? Do you mean herniated disk?? If so, you don’t want any spinal manipulations for that condition. It could make your problem much worse. Good luck. Aloha, Rich If you don’t lie then you never have to remember anything.

Response:

Rich, Could you provide me with the Peer Review Research which reveals that a spinal manipulation if properly performed could cause a "herniated disc" or cause one to become "much worse"?   I have had professional experience in which the patient even had radiating pain and loss of sensation with a ("herniated disc") disc prolapse who responded excellently with spinal manipulation.  When a traction force is applied to the disc you can reduce significantly any chance of further "herniation" and may even reduce a prolapse. — DR. The technique is of little matter.  The ability and skill of the doctor is the most important aspect when it comes to manipulative therapy.  Just like not all surgeons are of the same skill. — DR. ROLAND HICKS Doctor of Chiropractic Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner

Dr. Hicks: There’s research out there that notes, clearly, that spinal manipulation is both safe and warranted for both discal herniation and spondylolisthesis. The caveat is of course that too much flexion is not warranted during a ‘lumbar roll.’ Cheers! jay Hafner – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Rich, > Could you provide me with the Peer Review Research which reveals that a > spinal manipulation if properly performed could cause a "herniated disc" or > cause one to become "much worse"?   I have had professional experience in > which the patient even had radiating pain and loss of sensation with a > ("herniated disc") disc prolapse who responded excellently with spinal > manipulation.  When a traction force is applied to the disc you can reduce > significantly any chance of further "herniation" and may even reduce a > prolapse. > — > DR.
