Fascitis Plantar
Question:
>I’m interested in some treatment for fascitis plantar. Each time I play = >tennis or jog, I cant stand it. >Thanks in advance
The first thing to do with plantar fasciitis is be sure you actually have it. By this, I mean in some cases, the bones of the ankle can misalign and put pressure on the fascia and other tendons and ligaments, causing symptoms that nearly mimic plantar fasciitis. The only way to get this checked out is by seeing a doctor of chiropractic. A rule of thumb, though, is that if you have equal roange of motion on both ankles, either both are subluxated (a possibility) or neither is subluxated (probably more likely). From here, the best thing to do is stretching the soleus and gastrocnemius muscles (as well as the achilles tendon) several times a day and wear very supportive shoes. There are several good websites of information that can be accessed by searching Yahoo or Webcrawler. Steve

Here is a copy of a message I posted on this board just 2-3 days ago … This message is in response to many previous questions regarding what to do about the following: Foot pain, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis Knee pain, leg pain, back pain General lower body fatigue For the past 3-4 years, I’ve experienced problems with foot pain (heel spurs), various knee problems, and lower body fatigue. After going to several general practitioners, I was finally recommended to a Podiatrist. He prescribed a pair of custom orthotics (cost about $450; my insurance didn’t cover any of it). After 2 attempts to get the right fit (8 weeks later), I began wearing them. They were made from rigid plastic, and were fairly heavy. They were also extremely uncomfortable. But, they helped a little, especially with the heel spurs. However, because they were so uncomfortable and because they irritated my feet, I began looking for alternatives. By searching the Internet, I found an ad for a non-rigid orthotic for about $20. The price was so cheap that I dismissed it. However, after putting up with the discomfort of my new custom orthotics for another week, I decided to risk the $20 bucks. Unbelievable! This product has completely resolved the heel spur, and I’ve noticed some relief from the knee problem. They are very comfortable, and they fit in my dress shoes. They are so cheap that I’ve ordered a 2nd pair, so that I don’t have to keep switching the orthotics back and forth between shoes. My legs are also not as tired in the evening. I honestly don’t know how these work, but (according to the company), it has to do with the fact that the product has both arch and metatarsal support (whatever that is). So, check it out. The company is Power Align. Website is: http://members.xoom.com/poweralign You can order directly from the website. Well, I couldn’t using my AOL account (I think because of AOL’s firewall), but I simply emailed them with all the necessary information (name, mailing address, shoe size, method of payment, etc.). The product was delivered within about a week of ordering. A friend of mine successfully ordered a pair from the website using Internet Explorer. If you have questions, email me. By the way, I’ve emailed the company twice for information, and they’ve been pretty prompt answering me. Kent Montag
