Back Pain / Sciatica

Question:

Chris, Forget the Chiropractor and go straight to your general practicioner and request an MRI etc. Your GP will know where to refer you from there depending on the results. Judy – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I’ll follow the advice from both posts and see a chiropractor. I > suspect I have more than bunched muscles e.g. slipped disc. > Cheers, > Chris

LOL   Ok, Hi! Chris!      FATHER of twins. Got it! In that case, you may not need putting back together. Sorry you’re hurting, and hope you have success really soon in finding the cause.      Yup, your babies need Daddy hugs, too…good 4 you. :-) Congrats to the Dad Hugs from Rosie — "If you wanna get it done, you gotta fight for yourself."  – Meat Loaf, Bat Outta Hell II

After months of bending over to pick up twin babies, my back crooked very low down and I now have some scoliosis. My body is straight up to the hip but then veers off to the left. My GP says the muscles are bunched and gave some advice and pain relief. (I hope a discc is not damaged.) I also have sciatica – numb left leg, very unpleasant shooting pains along the nerve – and the back thing fluctuates between starting-to-improve and going back to the same as before. I take non-steroid anti-inlammatories and standard paracetamols (nothing stronger, don’t want the side effect risk). Also hot baths, Ralgex cream and hot water bottles. Will visit to an osteopath in a week. Any other suggestions? My twins need parental cuddles!

Response:

I recommend seeing a good chiropractor. The pelvic bones and lower spine don’t always go back into place correctly after giving birth, esp. twins! Congrats.      I hadta get put back in place 3 times, once after each son. Walking was nearly impossible until I got put together again. I’m hypermobile, so the getting outta whack and the pain was more extreme than normal Moms.      Good luck to ya! If you’re having Scatica I suggest you go back to your GP and request further testing such as a possible MRI etc. Scatica is a sign that there’s possibly disc involvement and I’d be extremely careful until this is ruled out. If you do have discs involved then your GP should refer you to an orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon. Judy – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I recommend seeing a good chiropractor. Hi Rosie: Easy mistake, my fault – I am the father! I have the misfortune to be six foot three and the main childcarer, my height proving a disadvantage. I was there at the birth though. Caesarian – messy business! I’ll follow the advice from both posts and see a chiropractor. I suspect I have more than bunched muscles e.g. slipped disc.
