Question:

I have two dogs that keep peeing all over my house.  The are 3 and 4 years old, and never had problems with this until I left them with my mother for 9 months, which the spent the whole day in a large back yard.  The only time they went into the house was to sleep at night. They always spent more time in the house before. We just got settled into a new house (which we are renting) and I noticed that they have peed all over, my male dog is the one doing most of it!  I don’t’ know what to do!  I’m just renting this place, and I have a 8 month old daughter who is crawling all over the house.  Help please, I don’t want to have to get rid of them.  I don’t want to keep them outside all the time, they wouldn’t get enough attention!  What do I do?! Sounds like your dogs have been shuttled from one place to another too much.   Your male dog is marking his territory.  Is he neutered?  If not, I suggest you do this.  It may cut down on his marking.  In the meantime, don’t leave them alone in the house.  Watch them constantly, and take them outside to pee frequently.  When they do go outside, praise them to the heavens!  Clean your carpet with some kind of pet urine odor removal stuff.  As long as they can smell the pee, they will keep peeing there.  It’s like housebreaking all over again.  Good luck :) Dogstar716 Come see Gunnars Life: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/Gunnar

Your dogs have been through something traumatic for them. Have you considered crating? It has worked well for me & if I had been open to it before I wouldn’t have had to find new homes for my last 2 dogs that went through the same thing when I had my daughter. Now I have a 6 month pup who is crate trained & it’s great! I don’t keep him in there all the time but whenever you can’t supervise & don’t want them thrown outside it works great! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >I have two dogs that keep peeing all over my house.  The are 3 and 4 >years old, and never had problems with this until I left them with my >mother for 9 months, which the spent the whole day in a large back >yard.  The only time they went into the house was to sleep at night. >They always spent more time in the house before. >We just got settled into a new house (which we are renting) and I >noticed that they have peed all over, my male dog is the one doing most >of it!  I don’t’ know what to do!  I’m just renting this place, and I >have a 8 month old daughter who is crawling all over the house.  Help >please, I don’t want to have to get rid of them.  I don’t want to keep >them outside all the time, they wouldn’t get enough attention!  What do >I do?! >Michelle

Nah, they all pee in every new house.  Part nerves. Part marking. Part making it smell like home.  You paint, furnish, carpet, hang pictures.  They pee. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->We just got settled into a new house (which we are renting) and I >noticed that they have peed all over, my male dog is the one doing most >of it! > Sounds like your dogs have been shuttled from one place to another too much. > Your male dog is marking his territory.  Is he neutered?  If not, I suggest you > do this.  It may cut down on his marking.  In the meantime, don’t leave them > alone in the house.  Watch them constantly, and take them outside to pee > frequently.  When they do go outside, praise them to the heavens!  Clean your > carpet with some kind of pet urine odor removal stuff.  As long as they can > smell the pee, they will keep peeing there.  It’s like housebreaking all over > again.  Good luck :) > Dogstar716 > Come see Gunnars Life: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/Gunnar

it smell like home.  You paint, furnish, carpet, hang pictures.  They pee. << I’ve moved four times in seven years and my dogs have never peed in a "new" house, or even an old one. They don’t pee in the house. The end. Deb* I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn’t looking good either.

Unacceptable. The last time I moved, we took the dogs to the house before we moved in– during the painting-cleaning stage. I took each dog ON LEASH to every nook and cranny in that house, and let them sniff and explore all they wanted with me there to supervise. Even the intact male NEVER peed. I have two puddels and ferret. They got ringworm, our vet gave them pills and cream for athletes foot. Pills didn’t help, and cream was hard to apply, because they scratch whole body. We still put cream, but it didn’t help. What else we can do about it.

Response:

I would suggest you consult another vet. it may be something other that a ringworm. There several fungal infections taht dogs can get. Michael

My son,Cody, has lgs. He is on no drugs right now. Instead we are trying homepathic methods, with good results. He was suffering from over 100 seizures daily and now is under 10. He also went several days in March with no seizures, including one week straight with none. I am still looking for any info on new ideas or treatments that might take the remaining seizures away. Please respond if you come across anything. Thanks, Laura
